Aeroseal is seeking a Manager of Commercial Energy Efficiency Market Development. This position will report to the Head of Policy and Market Development, with strong coordination and integration within Aeroseal’s Commercial Business Unit. The Manager of Commercial Energy Efficiency Market Development will lead Aeroseal’s policy strategy for commercial energy efficiency incentives and will be responsible for opening new markets through increased energy efficiency incentives and adoption of other policy drivers to expand Aeroseal’s advanced duct sealing, air sealing, and ventilation business in the commercial and large multi-family sectors.

Specific Roles and Responsibilities

The Energy Efficiency Market Development Manager will be responsible for the following.

• Lead Aeroseal’s engagement with electric and gas utilities, with a focus on opening new markets for commercial and multi-family energy efficiency incentives. This will include:

  1. Market research to identify priority markets for proactive engagement.
  2. Lead direct engagement with representatives from utilities and key stakeholders in priority markets to educate, get acceptance of Aeroseal’s solutions, and translate the details and potential opportunities to Aeroseal’s commercial sales teams.
  3. Support Aeroseal’s Dealer Development team as needed with utility rebate application submission process.
  4. Maintain relationships and share results with key utility staff and other stakeholders.
  5. Defend markets through active monitoring and engagement as necessary in ongoing regulatory processes such as utility energy efficiency planning, budgeting, utility commission approvals, and evaluation, measurement, and verification.

• Identify and execute partnerships to support Aeroseal’s growth including commercial, multi-family, and low-income program implementers.

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with utilities, stakeholders, and policy makers in key markets.

• Lead grants and Request for Proposal responses, including identifying potential federal/state/local funding, organizing and coordinating a team and securing external partners.

• Support Aeroseal’s sales teams as needed with coordination of state government entities including working with federal/state/local government entities to get acceptance for Aeroseal’s solutions as part of Energy Savings Performance Contracts.

• Serve as subject matter expert and advisor to Aeroseal’s Commercial Business Unit on utility energy efficiency incentives and policy/regulatory drivers such as building energy code and building performance standards.

With support of marketing team, identify, secure, and execute conference presentation, white papers, blogs, and other collateral to demonstrate thought leadership and support Aeroseal’s awareness among key policy and utility stakeholders.

Other Requirements

• Remote position - near major airport, with willingness to travel to HQ in Ohio at least once per quarter

• Willingness to travel – position may require in person meetings or technology demos with utilities as needed, regional energy efficiency conferences, and other events (estimated ~20-30% travel)

Skills/Experience

• Direct experience with and demonstrated knowledge of utility energy efficiency programs required; specific experience with large commercial, multi-family, and income-eligible programs a plus

• Strong understanding of utility regulatory environments and drivers for utility decision-making and investment as it relates to energy efficiency

• Strong understanding of energy, climate, and building decarbonization policy landscape

• Sales-minded individual with prior demonstrated experience developing new programs, driving market growth, and/or business development

• Self-starter with demonstrated ability to multi-task and achieve goals with discretion on the tasks and strategy

• Experience with stakeholder engagement and/or coalition-building

• Desire to support Aeroseal’s mission of decarbonizing the built environment through reducing energy use while improving indoor air quality and comfort

• Basic level of technical understanding of building science and energy efficiency for commercial buildings desired

• Comfort with public speaking and ability to translate technical topics into understanding and engaging material for multiple audiences

• Ability to translate policy opportunities into business metrics and ability to translate policy topics and updates into concise and actionable recommendations for Aeroseal’s sales teams

• Minimum 5 years experience in relevant professional roles
